01 / THE STAGES

How a state moves up

Every state starts the same way. The color tells you how far we've gotten there.

Law checked

We read what the state says about your record: what an employer can ask, when, and what you can clear. Every line links to the law or the agency that says it.

Local help mapped

Job centers, reentry programs, legal aid and 211. Free help you can call or walk into, with the links checked.

Employers checked

At least 2 different employers in the state carry a live "Hires people with records" mark. When marks run out and nobody re-checks them, the state drops back to stage 2. The map would rather show less than lie to you.

Connected

At least one employer in the state is Tier 2: a person there confirmed it with us, and we keep checking in. If the check-ins stop, the state drops back.

Active

At least one employer in the state is Tier 3: we work with them to get people hired, and you can apply through us.
Three taped pages joined by red arrows: 1 Law checked, 2 Local help checked, 3 Employers checked. A note reads Coverage grows in stages.

Connected today: none yet. Active today: none yet. We would rather show you that than fake it.

02 / THE TIERS

How sure we are about each employer

Every employer on the list carries a tier. It tells you how we know.

Public record

The employer's own page, policy or program says it, or a published report does.

Validated

A person confirmed it with us directly, and we keep checking in.

Hiring with Steel Man

We work with this employer to get people hired. You can apply through us.

A tier is about the evidence, not a promise of a job. Tier 2 and 3 only come from real conversations with real people, never from a web search. Run a business that hires people with records? Talk to us.

03 / NEW

Newest marks

The last employers we checked. Each one rests on something you can open and read yourself.

Every employer carrying the mark right now is on the jobs for felons page.

04 / EXPIRING

Running out soon

A mark is only good until its date. These come off in the next 60 days unless somebody checks them again.

Run one of these businesses, or know it still hires people with records? Tell us. The owner confirming it is the strongest proof there is.
